12 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. |
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. |
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) |
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. |
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. |
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. |
7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. |
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. |
9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. |
10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. |
11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. |
12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. |

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. |
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me. |
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. |
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. |
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. |
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. |
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. |
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. |
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. |
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. |
19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, |
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. |
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. |
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: |
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. |
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; |
26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again. |
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? |
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. |
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. |
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, |
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |

9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. |
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. |
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. |
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. |
13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. |
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. |
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. |
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. |
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. |
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. |
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. |
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; |
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. |
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: |
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. |
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. |
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. |
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. |
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. |
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. |
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: |
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. |
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. |
30 I and my Father are one. |
